Aurora, CO (April 3, 2019) – We are excited to share with you our next event, DATA presents Empowering Artists to Galvanize the Creative Economy will host a discussion on how to navigate the changing Colorado creative climate. This community networking event and discussion is for local artists, media members, city planners, and others to engage on how to advance the creative economy as it continues to grow in Colorado. The event will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019, 6pm to 9:30pm at The Peoples Building, 9995 E Colfax Ave, Aurora, CO 80010. Reserve your ticket today. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be provided.

Colorado has a vibrant arts scene full of dynamic creatives, a strong sense of community, and a growing economy. However, the Colorado arts scene is under-recognized nationally with lots of artists earning money outside of the creative economy. In 2017, Colorado’s creative economy generated $1.9 billion, according to the recent CBCA economic activity study. Compared to Washington State, with similar demographics to Colorado, who generated almost double in creative contribution. Colorado creatives have the potential to compete on a national scale and become a leading destination for art tourism.

There are new opportunities opening up every year and with Meow Wolf coming to town with a projected 2 – 5 million visitors annually, it seems a direct opportunity to grow Colorado’s creative economy. This event is not about whether or not you will work with Meow Wolf, but about using the opportunities that can be created through vision, support, and collaboration.

We bring you together with local leaders in the creative industry to discuss opportunities in the creative economy and create a platform for your voices to be heard. This event provides:

  • Networking – an opportunity for collaborations
  • Advice and conversations from experts in the field
  • Public conversation and creative possibilities
